A Snippet From My Own Mini Perfumery

For me, deciding on what perfume to wear is as difficult as picking a colour to paint my nails, what shoes to wear with that outfit or as hard as deciding on what to have for dinner!

I tend to pick my perfume on my mood and the weather, as well as the time of day/year and my plans. I've always wanted to be one of those people who have a signature scent, the one that other people smell and instantly think of you, the one you repurchase no matter what. However the one tiny (huge) problem with this is that I love all perfumes so I could never settle on just one! There's far too many out there and I'm just too indecisive. Although my boyfriend believes otherwise! He does think I have a signature scent, he told me that whenever he smells it in a shop or when a woman walks past him wearing it, he instantly thinks of me. I suppose it could be described as 'my scent' as it is my all time favourite and I wear it in the evenings, for special events and mostly throughout the winter (its quite a heavy smell so not summer suitable). Its the perfume I've repurchased most over the years and I will continue to do so and it has a much loved spot on my dressing table along with all my other bottles. The perfume I'm talking about is Chanel no5. Some people may find it too overpowering or more suited for an older woman but I think its an iconic perfume with such a beautiful heady aroma. I think every girl should have her go to Chanel perfume and mine is definitely no5.

This is my absolute go to for special events and especially around Christmas time as well as throughout the colder months. For my 13th birthday my mum, who I adore more than anything, handed me a beautifully gift wrapped box and inside there was my very first bottle of Chanel no5! Since that day this perfume has always made me feel special when wearing it and each year my lovely family or wonderful boyfriend will get me a new bottle for my birthday or Christmas just in time as the previous bottle is running out. As you can see, I'm very near the end so I may have to purchase a small bottle from Duty Free when I go away this Christmas!

Next is another strong favourite of mine that I also reserve for special events, but this time for all year round. This was a gift from my boyfriend for my 21st birthday earlier this year.He took a real gamble as I'd never smelt it before but he said he loved the smell and could imagine it on me, so he took the plunge and purchased it and I couldn't be happier! The bottle is beautiful, it reminds me of Snow White and her apple, and the smell is divine. Its very fruity but has a big hit of amber that gives the fragrance a lot of depth and sensuality. Its so very special to me that I don't use it too often as I don't want it to run out! Its a smell that lasts for such a long time that I find I only top it up once, possibly twice, throughout an evening just to freshen up. I highly recommend this perfume for anyone looking for a special gift for someone. This perfume is Cartier Delices.

Whenever I'm struggling to decide on what perfume to wear I'll pick Viktor& Rolf Flowerbomb. This perfume goes with everything and is such an addictive smell that I will wear it most days. Each spray is like a bouquet of sensations with its floral top notes and bases notes of patchouli and jasmine.

These are my 3 most used day to day perfumes. I'll always have one of these in my handbag during the week at work, they are light fun and fresh smells that are ideal for every day wear. The first is Juicy Couture Malibu with the most obvious notes being pink passion fruit and jasmine. The second is Marc Jacobs Lola which is a very warm floral perfume with very powerful signature notes of peonies (which are my all time favourite flower!). The last is Agent Provocateur L'agent which is surprisingly fresh and light, its not the most long lasting but its so lovely that I don't mind topping up a few times throughout the day. The best way to describe the smell would be oriental floral.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I'm hoping to add a few new perfumes to my collection this Christmas so I'll be sure to do an updated post at some point. I've got my beady eyes on Balenciaga Florabotanica, Gucci Premiere and I'm really hoping to re purchase Christian Dior Pure Poison, I've only ever had the pleasure of a small bottle as part of a Dior travel collection and I loved it so much I would really love a bigger bottle!

Are there any perfumes on your Christmas lists for Santa this year? xoxo

October Wishlist

October is such an exciting month for make-up, designers start bringing out their Autumn/Winter collections and towards the end of the month they start bringing out their Christmas gift collections! Needless to say, I'm biting my nails in anticipation for payday next week so I can feed my make-up hunger and I'll show you why...

Charlotte Tilbury, Matte Revolution in Love Liberty (£23)

I have been coveting this lipstick since the release of the collection, the colour is incredible and it leaves your lips in the most delectable matte finish. I went to Selfridge's last weekend to purchase this but they didn't have this colour in store :( the other colours are gorgeous but I have my heart set on Love Liberty so I'm planning an online shop after pay day so expect a review of this lipstick as well as lots of other goodies!

Next up is one of the new EOS lip balm balls in the flavour Wildberry (£6.50)

Look at how cute these are!! They are the perfect size to just pop in your handbag when you're on the go and they are so hydrating!
DIOR, Diorific vernis smoky nail polish in Smoky (£20)

This stunning bottle of perfume is part of a DIOR collection consisting of 4 colours (GOLD EQUINOXE, MIRROR, SHOCK AND SMOKY). They are all so so nice but this one just calls to me, the colour is absolutely perfect for the coming months and the bottle is one of a kind. £20 is a lot to spend on one nail polish so I think I may have to have a polish ban for a while If I do buy this!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat (£14)

This moisturiser is an absolute dream! It really is one of those products that does what it says on the tin. I only came across this brand earlier this year when I was on holiday in Cannes with my other half. My foundation just wasn't standing the heat in the evenings and ended up being very patchy and clogging up my pores so I went on the hunt for something to rescue me! In a local drug store I came across a huge display of La Roche Posay and with some help from the shop assistant, I purchased this along with a life saving foundation (Toleriane Teint Mattifying Mousse Foundation) and I was extremely happy! Even more so when I came back from holiday and found that Boots sell this brand, but alas I am yet to find a UK store selling the foundation :( The moisturiser is something I purchase frequently and its almost time again to stock up!

Essie, The Perfect Cover Up (7.99)

I'm a sucker for gray nail polish and this lovely Essie one includes teal undertones. Such a beautiful colour for the cold rainy months.

Next we have the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (£19)

This isn't my usual brush for mascaras but I've heard nothing but amazing things about it so I'm very tempted to purchase it and see for myself! Debenhams are currently doing a clever offer where you will receive a mini sample size of this mascara when you purchase it in full size, this way you get to try the mascara and decide if you like it! If you do then you've already got the full size and if you don't then you can send it straight back and Debenhams will issue a refund. Its been compared a lot to the Benefit They're Real mascara but this is apparently better, with one review saying "It blows They're Real out of the water" I really like They're Real but it makes my eyelashes rock solid and it is so difficult to remove so if Better Than Sex blows that mascara out of the water...I am very tempted indeed!

The last thing on my wishlist is something I'm pretty sure every girl dreams of! Never in a million years could I ever bring myself to spend so much on this but its just too beautiful for me to not post!

Please may I bring your attention to The Vault by NARS (£330)

Consisting of 10 nail polishes and 10 matching lipsticks, each colour has been personally chosen by Fran├žois Nars, so essentially this is a personal gift from Mr Nars himself!
I'll be sure to put up a haul post over the next few weeks to show you my new beauty treats, I would love to be able to purchase everything in my wishlist but for now I'm hoping to add 2 or 3 items in to my basket! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what's on your October Wishlist :) Until next time xoxo

Winter Lip Picks

Now that October is nearly over(!!) I feel it's time to swap out my summer brights for my favourite autumn/winter lip colours. Being that I am OBSESSED with lipstick I thought that this would be a good first post, I mean I probably have more lipsticks than lost bobby pins! I love love love lipsticks, all shades and all finishes, I am forever adding to my ever growing collection. It's not like a girl can ever have too many lipsticks (sorry bank balance)!

First things first, lets talk about chapped lips: I suffer a lot with chapped lips in the colder months and its something I'm always struggling with so I've always made sure that I have a Carmex or Vaseline pot in my handbag. Recently my new fav lip lip balms are the EOS lip balm balls, they smell incredible and work so well! However if I want something with a pop of colour, I'll go for one of my trusted Baby Lips. Again, they smell good and work really well and they're tinted so they leave such a nice sheer colour on your lips.

EOS lip balm ball in Lemon Drop

Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me

Now moving on to lipsticks...

If I'm wanting a fun day time lip then I would go for any of the below:

Clinique Chubby Stick in no 16 Voluptuous Violet. The first application of this comes out as more of a tinted balm however it is so easy to build up the colour and you can really play around with the layers and see what suits you best.

Yves Rocher in no 12 Marron Glace. This was a wonderful item in a Birchbox a few months ago and is now a non mover in my make up bag, it's great for work as its a much more neutral colour and not too pigmented. I also love it as its great for blending and mixing with other colours, if I'm wanting to tone down a bright colour or just mix things up a bit then I'll add a slick of this and I've always loved the outcome.

Me Me Me Cherubs Blush Cheek and Lip Tint. This came in to my life via a Glossybox last year and I was slightly disappointed at first as I'm not a fan of cheek tints. My skin just doesn't agree with them and it was far too dark for me to be trying to blend on my cheeks. I do however absolutely love it on my lips, its got great staying power, doesn't bleed and you can control how light or dark you want it to be depending on how much you layer.

Now on to evening wear/very exciting day wear.

Calvin Klein Lip Pot in 22306 Ultimate Edge. I would describe this little pot of wonder as a stain, a little goes a long way and it is very pigmented and does not budge!

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Golden Lustre no 110. I'm not generally a fan of YSL lipsticks as I find them to be a bit too sheer and the staying power leaves a lot to be desired. However I just couldn't resist the colour and I was pleasantly surprised with this product, I'm mainly using it for work for when I'm wanting a bit more of a playful make-up look. Its such a lovely colour but it does need a few coats to reach the desired look. I do find that I'm touching it up frequently but its definitely one of the best YSL lipstick I've used.

Tom Ford no 10 Cherry Lush. This is possibly one of my all time favourite lipsticks, it's most definitely my favourite Tom Ford lipstick in my collection and I absolutely recommend this! The colour is divine, it lasts all evening and is such a special lipstick to have in your bag. I know the price tag can be a bit off putting but I recommend this so much, it is so worth the money and every girl needs a classic red!

Chanel Rogue Coco in no 21 Rivoli. This is my darkest lipstick and I purchased it last Christmas along with a matching nail varnish (Lotus Rouge) on a shopping trip with my lovely friend Jade (http://www.leadingladybeauty.co.uk/) it is such a beautiful evening lipstick, one coat gives your lips the most delicious dark berry colouring. Chanel lipsticks are my ultimate favourite, I have about 9 so far in a range of reds, pinks and neutrals and all in a variety of finishes. Even if it takes me a million years, I will not stop until I have every single shade and finish!! I am a woman obsessed when it comes to Chanel but more so when it comes to Chanel and Lipstick!

Hope you enjoyed this post. Until next time xoxo
